Estonia Currency
The official Estonia currency was Kroon till 2011. It was symbolized as Kr, and the code for former Estonia currency was EEK. The Kroon had been official Estonia currency in the period between 1928 to 1940 and then from 1992 to 2011.
Official Currency of Estonia
The work Kroon is derived from ‘corona’ which means crown. In between the period from 1928 to 1992 as Estonia was invaded by the Soviet Union and they replaced Estonia currency from Kroon to Soviet ruble. After independence in 1992, it again became official Estonia currency. One Kroon is divided into 100 cents. In the period between 1920 to 1940, the Estonia currency has bank notes for 5 Krooni, 10 Krooni, 20 Krooni, 50 Krooni, and 100 Krooni. The second Kroon which was reintroduced in place of the Soviet ruble has bank notes for 1 Kroon, 2 Krooni, 5 Krooni, 10 Krooni, 25 Krooni, 50 Krooni, 100 Krooni, and 500 Krooni. One Kroon was exchanged at a rate of 10 Soviet rubles. The coins are available for five senti, ten sent, 20 sent, 50 sent, 1 Kroon and 5 Krooni.
About Estonia Currency
After becoming the part of Europe, the Estonia currency was replaced official y by Euro which is in use in the whole of Europe. The Estonian banks replace Kroon of any amount in the present Estonia currency. The Euro became official Estonia currency on 1st January 2011. Till 15th of January 2011, Kroon and Euro both circulated in the country but after that only Euro became the legal Estonia currency.
