In 1998, Gen Emile Lahoud elected as president and Hariri resigned to appoint Salim al-Huss as prime minister. In October 2000, Rafik al Hariri became the prime minister again. In 2004 Hariri resigned to extend the tenure of Lahoud to three years. In 2005 Hariri is killed in a car bomb and the govt. was in pressure to resign. Later Saad Hariri son of Rafik al Hariri got the majority in first parliamentary elections. Saad Hariri served again as prime minister from 2009 to 2011 and from 2016 to date and is going to form a Lebanon government in 2018.
