The structure of Mozambique government consists of an executive branch which consists the cabinet of ministers, the legislative branch which consists of the rule making bodies and the judiciary branch which is responsible to provide justice to the people of the country. While all of these branches are governed by the President, President of the country is the head of the state which is selected by the people of Mozambique. The elected President remains the head of the state for five years. The President then elects a prime minister, whom he sees fit for the position.

The history of Mozambique government goes back to 1975 when it was still a victim of civil war until 1990 when a new constitution was adopted to keep peace intact but in 1994, Joaquim Chissano was elected as President who then helped maintain peace between the people and the Mozambique government for a long time. In Mozambique government 2019, the president is Filipe Nyusi who was selected in 2015 and the Prime minister is Carlos Agostinho who was selected by the President.
