Languages in Namibia
Namibia is mainly known as the Republic of Namibia and is located in Southern Africa. There are three Namibia official languages in total. German is considered as Namibia national language. Along with this English is also signed national language in Namibia. South African and Afrikaans are also included in the formal languages in Namibia. English was considered a primary language in the country in 1990 by the constitution of Namibia. Similarly, other two national languages in Namibia were having the majority speakers.
Languages in Namibia
There are different dialects spoken by the people of the state. One of the languages in Namibia that is widely spoken among households are of Oshiwambo dialects. This one is used by 49% of the population of the country. The Damara language is also one of the languages in Namibia which is used by 11% of the population. Afrikaans is spoken by 10%, Herero by 9%, and a language named Kavango also by 9% of the people living in the country.
Other Languages in Namibia
The use of English from 2001 to 2011 has been increased by almost 2% which is the most significant change among other languages in Namibia. This change is beneficial for the visitors as English is the most common language used among the whole world so as more people in Namibia will know the languages, it will be easy for you to communicate with them. The use of language which has been decreased in these years is Kavango which in 2001 was spoken by 9.7%, and in 2011 it dropped to 8.5%.
