Palestine has been subject to many attacks and due to this, the Palestine currency has been changing since the beginning. An overview of the former Palestine currency and the present Palestine currency gives you an idea of the state that the country is in and that is what we are going to do here. 

National Currency of Palestine

Palestine currency at first was the Palestinian pound. Palestinian pound was used as Palestine currency from 1927 to 1948 when it was also used in Israel. Not only was Palestinian pound used in Israel but it was also used in Transjordan. After which the Israel Lira replaced Palestinian pound in 1952. One Israel lira was further divided into 1000 mills. But at the present, there are two Palestinian currencies that are the Israeli new shekel and Jordanian dinar. Jordanian dinar was brought in 1950 and is still legal in some parts such as West Bank. These two currencies are used side by side in West Bank. Though in 2010, the idea of pushing out these currencies so that Palestine could be an independent state was raised by the Prime Minister Salam Fayyad it was declined and left to rot by Palestinian Monetary Authority in 2011. Due to this rejection, the Israeli Shekel got the push it needed.

Talking about the Palestine currency rate, at the present time, 1 Israeli New Shekel is equivalent to 33.86 Pakistani Rupees and tends to go a bit higher with time. On the other hand, 1 Israeli New Shekel is equivalent to 0.28 United States Dollars.
