Languages in Belgium
There are many dialects and languages in Belgium. But, officially only three languages are recognized. These include German, French and Dutch language. Privately, it is not an issue that which language is spoken by people in Belgium as their constitution is very flexible. Almost around 59 percent of people talk in the Dutch language, 40 percent speak French while only 1 percent speak German. Given below is a little description of the main official languages.
1. Dutch
Dutch is the primary language spoken in the capital of Belgium. Flanders community is also mostly trained to speak Dutch in public. This language is also popular along the borders of Netherland and West Flemish. 2. French
French is also among languages in Belgium which are spoken by 40 percent community. The Brussels-Capital region and the Wallonia region is most popular for the French language speakers. The people in these regions speak French as their first or primary language. Those living in Flemish communities have adopted it as their second language.
3. German
Although German is also included in spoken languages in Belgium, those people who speak German are very few. In the region of Versailles, there is a tiny German community that is mainly stuck with this language since World War 1. People are free to choose any of the languages in Belgium as there is no restriction on this at the private and public level.
