Ecuador’s official currency is United States Dollars, and the history of Ecuador’s currency goes back to 1836 when the 1 and 2 escudo coins were eliminated after being replaced by proper 4-real coins by the help of machinery being imported from Chile. These coins were not good at all in the quality so in 1842 case was produced which is a 4-maravedi coin but in Ecuador, it had very low value. It was not until 2000 when the gold was still exchanged as the currency of the country, and the price of the silver rose gradually in the 1940s. Due to this long instability in the Ecuador region, many speculations were spreading around as to what would circulate as a means of Ecuador currency. In 2000 United States Dollars were declared as the currency that would be used in Ecuador.
