Languages in Poland
The most important of the languages in Poland is Polish. The deaf communities are used to using polish Sign Language which belongs to the German family of Sign Languages too. According to the famous Act of 6 January 2005 based on national and ethnic minorities, 16 other languages have been officially recognized as the minority languages in Poland.

Polish language which is one of the main languages in Poland is a West Slavic language which is spoken primarily in the country of Poland and is the native language in Poland. It belongs mainly to the Lechitic subgroup of the West Slavic languages. Polish is the key language of Poland, but it is also used by Polish minorities in a few other countries. There are around 50 million Polish speakers around the world, and it is one of the official languages of the European Union too. Its writing is the Polish alphabet, which has 9 additions to the letters (Ä…, ć, Ä™, Å‚, Å„, ó, Å›, ź, ż). Polish is closely related to the languages in Poland such as Kashubian, Silesian, Upper Sorbian, Lower Sorbian, Czech, and Slovak. Historically, Polish is also known to be a very important language, both in terms of diplomatically and academically in Central and Eastern Europe too.
