Languages in Slovakia

Slovakia was a part of the Czech Republic, but due to certain events, the two had to be separated. Slovakia is a country where there a lot of people with different background bringing a lot of different traditions into the country. Same is the case with the languages in Slovakia that these people that belong to different ethnic groups have carried their own languages in Slovakia.

Slovakia Official Language

Slovakia official language is the Slovak which is basically an Indo-European language. In the native language, it is called Slovensky jazyk. It is spoken by the majority of the population living in the country which means that it is also the national language in Slovakia. The official language of Slovakia which is Slovak is used as the primary language for communication in the country, apart from Slovakia it is also used in countries like Argentina, the United States and many more.

Other Languages in Slovakia

There is another language which is often confused with Slovak, and that is Slovene which is the official language of Slovenia. There are other languages that are used as foreign languages in Slovakia such Czech, English, German, Russian, Polish and French. While French is spoken by the minimal amount of the people living in the country, English is mainly used as a language in Slovakia used for media purposes and also taught in schools. Other than Slovak, Czech is spoken by the 24 percent of the population which is pretty obvious since Slovakia was a part of Czech Republic and the essence of the country is still alive.
