History of Taiwan

General information about Taiwan is incomplete without Taiwan’s history. Taiwan was occupied by the Portuguese people back in 1590 after which it was named as Formosa. After that the Dutch conquered the lands of Taiwan in 1624. After almost 35 years of Dutch rule, the Spanish came in and replaced the Dutch. Their rule was in Taiwan until 1661 when the Chinese troops invaded the land and replaced the Spanish. Japan came and replaced the Chinese in 1895 and at that time, the land of Taiwan went through devastating attacks during the Second World War. Taiwan has gone through some extreme ups and downs in its past time before getting the land to them and this is why the culture in Taiwan is greatly influenced by these people.
