Taiwan Public Holidays 2019
- On 15th of February, we have the Chinese New Year which is one day before the 1st of lunar month.
- This occasion continues till the 5th day of 1st lunar month. According to the old myths, the lunar month brings them good luck and little events are held to celebrate this event.
- Then on February 28th, peace memorial day is celebrated which indicates rising from the domination of Chinese back in 1947. Following the Peace Memorial Day, we have the lantern festival which is celebrated on 15th day of 1st lunar month.
- On this day, lanterns are set free in the sky following the Chinese culture according to which when there is full moon in the sky, lanterns should be in the sky as a token of appreciation.
- On April 4th, Children’s day is celebrated on which different stalls and schemes are introduced specially for children. Soon after Taiwan public holiday of Children’s day, we have the tomb sweeping day on April 5th and 6th.
- This holiday is more of a cultural holiday in respect for ancestors.
- Then comes the Mother’s day on May 13th after which we have the Dragon boat festival on June 18th which is a tradition on Japan and China as well.
- Talking about festivals, next in the Taiwan public holidays we have the mid autumn festival on September 24th.
- The national day is celebrated on October 10th which marks the day of freedom dating back to 1911.
- Then for autumn remembrance we have the double ninth day celebrated on October 17th and at the end of the year on 31st December we have the Republic day holiday.
