Turkey Official Language
The official language of Turkey is Turkish and one of the most widely spoken languages in Turkey, over 72 million of Turkey population speak Turkish. Turkish is also spoken in Cyprus, Iraq, Greece, Bulgaria, the Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and some other regions of Eastern Europe. There are also main foreign languages in Turkey such as English, German and French and minority languages in Turkey that are Kurmanji, Arabic, Zazaki, Pomak Bulgarian, Balkan is also one of the spoken Languages in Turkey by a small group of people.
Other Languages Spoken in Turkey
Ottoman Turkish language was spoken in the Ottoman Empire, which used to have a lot of Arabic and Persian words which are replaced afterward by the modern Turkish words in 1928. Back in 1928 new Turkish alphabet was introduced to the people of Turkey by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Ottoman Turkish handwriting script was same as Arabic and Persian from right to left, which was replaced by the Latin-based new Turkish handwriting script.
Traditional Languages in Turkey
Turkey has more than 30 ethnic (traditional) languages, but only a few people rarely speak some of these ethnic (traditional) languages. There are four other languages in Turkey spoken by the small group of people. Kurmanji is one of Turkey language also known as Northern Kurmanji spoken in the parts of Syria, Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. Arabic is only spoken in some of the southeastern Turkey areas. However Arabic is the most commonly spoken language in the Middle East but not in Turkey. Zazaki is another language in Turkey spoken by diverse groups of people living along the Caspian Sea., which is similar to various of the Caspian languages.
