Bhutan public holidays includes national and neighborhood celebration or tsechus. The national occasions get celebrated everywhere in Bhutan, whereas tsechus are celebrated only in their areas. Bhutan follows it’s own calendar, it’s a variation of lunisolar Tibetan schedule. Since it’s a lunisolar date book, dates of national occasions and tshechus change every year. For example, the new year, Losar, falls in between February and March.

- Fourth national holiday is the death anniversary of Zhabdrung. It’s the day of death of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in the year 1651 at Punakha Dzong, it usually falls in between months of April and May. This is an occasion that is also called the national day of mourning.
- Lord Buddha's Parinirvana, is one day which Bhutan celebrates as it’s national holiday.
- Birth Anniversary of III Druk Gyalpo is also celebrated as one of Bhutan's national holidays.
- Birth Anniversary of Guru Rinpoche is marked as a national holiday.

- Birth Anniversary of 4th Druk Gyalpo Constitution is another national holiday.
- Descending Day of Lord Buddha is also celebrated as one of the National holidays.
- Blessed Rainy day is a day which Bhutan celebrates as a national holiday.
- December 17th, is also a national holiday. It denotes crowning ordinance of Ugyen Wangchuck as main Druk Gyalpo of the present day Bhutan.
- Lhabad Duchen is also considered a Public Holiday, it falls in the month of November, on the ninth month, of the Tibetan timetable. It marks Gautam Buddha’s arrival on earth in the wake of achieving Nirvana.
