Government of Mauritius

The Government of Mauritius is the key authority of the executive power in the Republic of Mauritius. The head of the Government is usually the Prime Minister of Mauritius, who is mainly responsible for managing the agenda of the Government and direct the ministers regarding the matters. The 2015 Ibrahim Index of African Governance has ranked Mauritius first in the ranking of good governance since the Mauritius government is making all efforts to be good to people. According to the 2015 Democracy Index which was compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit that has the duty to measure the state of democracy in a total of 167 countries, Mauritius was ranked the 18th worldwide and was followed by Uruguay and United States and is the only African country with complete democracy. Mauritius is also expanding on the US and UK governments for the Chagos Archipelago islands which include Diego Garcia which is now a US naval base. Mauritius want all of these powers to hand them these islands which the government of Mauritius has always considered as part of its territories in an attempt to complete its decolonization process. This is a matter of utmost importance for the western world considering the critical location of the military base of Mauritius. Every city, town, village, and district in the island of Mauritius are administered properly, for the purposes of local government, by the help of local authorities; the municipal councils, the district councils and the small village councils. these are small levels of Mauritius government to handle the state affairs.
