Official Ccurrency of Nigeria

The official currency of Nigeria is Naira which is sub-divided into 100 Kobo. Naira was first introduced in 1973 when the replacement of pound was needed but this plan did not work for long as the Naira lost its value pretty much in its initial times. It was not until 2011 when CBN which is the short form for the Central bank of Nigeria decided to raise its value after increasing the interest rates as high as 6 percent. In terms of coins, the Nigeria currency was also first introduced in 1973 but in very short denominations. After a few years, around 2007 Nigeria currency coins were introduced in denominations of 50 Kobo and even 1 Naira.
