Government of North Korea
North Korea government and its system have remained questionable by the international and especially western system. The North Korea government system has remained socialist since its independence from Japan occupation of the land for forty years. After its independence from Japan, the north and south were controlled by two major powers in the world, USSR and USA. The USA controlled South Korea and turned it into the democratic system controlling much of its politics and South Korea government. While on another side of the border, USSR turned North Korea government into a socialist system and had cast great control over their system.
History of North Korea Government
The Korean War 1953 changed the dynamics of the country in a way that both superpowers stepped out from both countries. The North Korea government was though somewhat influenced by USSR and China but the system got out of influence to much extent. North Korea is a prime example of a monarchy based socialist system. All institutions and economy are state-controlled. Kim Jong Un is the ruler and the Supreme Leader of North Korea. There is a single party in North Korea called the Korean Worker Party (KWP). A single party based system is the only party controlling the North Korea government. The single party was formed by Sim Il Sung, the grandfather of Kim Jong-un, current head of North Korea.
North Korea Constitution
The North Korea constitution was adopted in 1972. It has been amended various time since then. The constitution has concentrated power in the hands of the Supreme leader of North Korea. The rule was passed in the time of Kim Il Sung and later his son, Kim Jong Il. Both leaders have the authority to control their military forces and all other institutions.
