There are a total of 15 occasions on which Uganda public holidays are given. Now, there is a background story behind all these Uganda public holidays and traditions which we will tell you one by one. Starting with the first event of the year which is New Year celebrated on the 1st January. Small events are arranged to celebrate this day. Then we have the NRM liberation day which is on January 26th. A newly introduced Uganda public holiday is Archbishop Janani Luwum Day which is celebrated on February 16th.

- Women’s day is also celebrated in Uganda on March 8th; this day is to acknowledge the efforts of women around the world.
- Then we have Good Friday arriving on March 30th right before the Easter Sunday which is celebrated on April 2nd. On this occasion families reunite to have big feasts which bring moments of joy in the lives of people there.
- May 1st is the Labor Day which is celebrated to honor the efforts of the labors around the world and it is a holiday on which almost every single sector is closed.
- On June 3rd the Martyr’s day arrives which is in the remembrance of the brave soldiers and leaders that have sacrificed their lives in the name of Independence.
- On June 15th, the occasion of Eid-ul-fitr comes. This Uganda public holiday is celebrated by the Muslims living in that country. It is a religious event that brings together all the Muslims of Uganda together. Soon after the Eid-ul-fitr comes the occasion of Eid-ul-adha on which Muslims practice religious activities such as sacrificing goats, camels and cow and then have family dinners to enjoy this Uganda Public holiday 2019.
- The most important day in the history of Uganda arrives on October 9th which is the Independence Day. It marks the day people of Uganda got their freedom from the colonial rules.
- On December 25th we have the Christmas day and following this is the last Uganda public holiday which is the Boxing Day on December 26th.
