Public holidays are any holidays legally enforced by the government of a country as part of the law ruling them. They help us not only bridge gaps that exist within society but, also promote religious tolerance as well as cultural exchange.

Rwanda Holidays 2019

The same as most countries across the world, Rwanda public holidays mark their beginning on 1^st January which is New Years Day followed by 2^nd January that is the day after New Year’s Day which is part of the Rwanda public holidays by Presidential Order.
1^st February in Rwanda is another day off as a show of respect and gratitude namely,
National Heroes Day. Following this is Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday which commemorates the Crucifixion of Jesus and is among the most important events in the religion of Christianity.
In accordance with that is Easter Monday. These 4 days off prove to be most suited for families wishing to spend time with their loved ones and relatives. It also allows them to get together in remembrance of their religious leader and praise God.
Rwanda public holidays are followed by a day off on 7^th April which is Genocide against Tutsi Memorial Day.
As Rwanda is a country full of diversity with varying people following own religions and having different faiths, practices of many common religions are observed.
This includes Eid ul Fitr which is an Islamic celebration marking the end of Ramadan. This gives people the chance to celebrate with festivities of food after a month-long period of fasting and enjoy the good company of their family as well as friends.
1^st July is the Rwandan Independence Day, and so is an integral one among Rwanda public holidays.
The first Friday of August is also on the list of Rwanda public holidays and is known as Umuganura Day.
The assumption of Mary falls in the mid of August and is also a part of Rwanda public holidays.
The second festival in Islam is Eid ul Azha, and it is also celebrated in Rwanda with the sacrifice of animals.
